The Studebaker National Museum

Description: The Studebaker National Museum is a must see for first timers and worth revisiting if it has been a while! It is devoted to sharing the story of the automotive and industrial history of South Bend and the greater region through the display and interpretation of Studebaker vehicles along with related industrial artifacts. The Collection also includes seven objects designated as “National Treasures” including the carriage Abraham Lincoln rode to Ford’s Theatre the night of his assassination, and a carriage used by the Marquis de Lafayette during his farewell tour of United States in 1824.

Private Elcar and Pedal Car Museum (and more!)

Description: Indiana Region member Dave Sander’s Private Collection of Several Elcar Cars that were manufactured in Elkhart from 1915 to 1931 and Peddle Cars. There is also his wife’s large Christmas Village, Disney and Quilt Collections.

The JBS Collection

In 2012, Indiana Region member Jack Boyd Smith, Jr. began his collection initiative in earnest. The JBS Collection spans many automotive-production periods but focuses on the preservation of rare vehicles, particularly those from the early 20th century Brass and Classic eras. The private JBS Collection has over forty historic vehicles that includes Auburn, Austin, Bentley, Cadillac, Chrysler, Clement, Cord, Dodge, Elcar, Ferrafi, Ford, Hudson, Jaguar, Mass, Mercedes-Benz, Minerva, Packard, Pierce-Arrow, Rolls-Royce, Studebaker, Tuk Tuk, White, and Winton examples. Some of these cars have been to Pebble Beach.

Description: Guests begin their journey on a walk through the evolution of the industry. Beginning with the covered wagon, then making stops in the ‘30s, ‘50s, ‘70s, and ‘80s…each major stepping stone is highlighted in the museum. With three of today’s largest manufacturers present in the museum, guests will then be able to tour three brand new, fully furnished/decorated manufactured homes.
